ROSE MUST MEET NURMI.
BERTH BOOKED ON MAKURA. COMPANION-MANAGER TO TRAVEL. Important decisions affecting the tour .abroad of the Australasian cham-pion-distance runner, R. A. Rose, of Masterton, were made by the Council of the N.Z.A.A.A. at a special meeting on Saturday morning. The action in the Itinerary Committee in securing a berth for Hose 'on*, the Makura, which is to leave Wellington on March. 30, was approved, and, after careful deliberation in committee, it was decided, if funds permitted, to appoint from New. Zealand a companion-manager, quite outside the council ranks, to accompany the chatmipion on his trip. The principal reason for this step was the desire to offset the mental effect the loneliness such as a long tour might create, and thus enable New Zealand's representative to -enter the lists properly -equipped for the .con-. tests that lie ahead.
