BURGLARY AT PALMERSTON.
CAUGHT RED HANDED. PALMERSTON N., March 15. While the occupants were absent on Saturday evening a young' man entered /the dwelling house of J. B. Wilton ixi Featherston Street. On 'returning Mr and Mrs Wilton and their son noticed, a dim light shining through the glass of, the hall door. Mr Wilton entered the house, the gas being alight in two rooms, where a search was unavailing. The intruder ,was then found in an unlighted room but his attempt to leave the house Ivy the back door was frustrated by Wilton. With the aid of a passer-by, who had an electric torch, they searched the house when the young man was discovered under the bed in the front room. The police were called and the man arrested. At the Magistrate’s Court this morning Michael Patrick Somers, aged 20, was charged with stealing from the dwelling house of Mr Wilton, a silver chain and two silver pencils. Accused was remanded till Wednesday. ■
