The rival rinks were: Shannon: Morgan, Cron quest, Murray, Gagliardi (skip); Takaro;: Free, Mundy, Ferguson, Flint (skip). Takaro set -out toy winning the first two heads, but Shannon replied on the third with a four. The sth head went to the home team, making the score equalr-4 all. At the conclusion of the ninth head, however, shannon had registered 15 points, while Takaro had not managed to add any more. At the 13th he*d the score was 13—17. Thence onward to the end of the game, heads were soon turned about, the final score toeing: Shannon 28, Takaro 18. The next challenge for the Cup is from, the Nbrthem Ciuto and will be played at Shannon on Saturday next. This is the first occasion the Gup has been away from the Takaro Club, therefore the Shannon rink axe all ,fhe mbre to be congratulated for winning it. The conditions of this Cup are that it is open only to the following clubs this side otf the ranFoxton, Palmerston N., Northern, Shannon, Manawatu, Levin, Terrace End, and Takaro KINNKBURG FEATHERS.

Challenging bowling clubs are ten- , acious people, where the Kinneburgli 1 Feathers are concerned, and Shannon ‘is no exception. They again visited Levin on Saturday buit the P.yke-Inder-Bull-Suhan quartette was too good a combination, although' the teams were all square at the 15th head, the green being very keen and the game a hard-fought one. With cat-like' agility the Levin men landed on their feet with a 5 on the 16th head, following this up with a “one” and a “four.” At the 21&t head, Knowles, Bartholomew, Roach and Jones (the Shannon challengers) showed 12 as their score and the close of the head Urey had scored a further 4 points, capped by one at the final head, closing a most interesting; struggle with the result at 22—17 for the holders. Messrs Murray and Gagliardi are the winners of the Clulb’s pair's dram■pionship. The following irink lias selected to represent iShannon at the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Championship Tournament to toe held at Palmerston North on Saturday next* Bovis, Knowles, Murray and Gagliardi (skip).

Owing to the continuance of dry weather the Sydney metropolitan water supply has failed to meet the demand this summer. Supply lor garden purposes is strictly prohibited, and several public baths had their supply cut off and were forced to close. More stringent restrictions are forecasted.
