+ ORPHAN’S BIG LEGACY. LEFT BY GRANDFATHER. Miss Jean Ferris, a IG-year-old girl, attending school at Nutfield, Surrey, England, according to information received from San Francisco, has come into a legacy of some hundreds of thousands of pounds , through the termination of a trust' fund left by her grandfather, the late Claus Spreckels, the American sugar king. Miss Ferris lives with her guardian, Mr J. Hutton, at his house, a few miles from Reigate. She has lost both her parents, her mother dying two years ago, four years after her father. She is a merry, high-spirited girl, fond of country life, and is always glad to get back to her home in the school vacations. Mr Hutton states that the amount which she inherits from her grandfather is a very substantial surm By the time she comes of age it is likely to have increased considerably.
