BOWLING NOTES.
SHANNON TO THY AGAIN FOR' FEATHERS. A rink from the Shannon Club are coining to Levin on Saturday to engage the local club in a further game for the much-coveted Kinnetourgh Feathers. ' Four rinks went from Levin yesterday, to play friendly games with members of the Foxton Club, a very entertaining afternoon’s play resulting in the visitors winning, on the aggregate, by 8 points. The rinks with thair individual scores were as follow: Levin (1), Pink, Rou.tley, Beckett and Brown (s), 30. Foxton (1), McKnight, Downs, Mattar, Walton (s), 18. Levin (2), Gibson, Edwards, Clements, junr., Suhan (s), 21. Foxton 1 (S),' Whibiey, Spring, Barr, Nye (s), 18. , Foxton (3), Walker, Parkes, Huntley, Woods (s), 22. . Levin (4), Derhaan, ‘ Morton, von Hurtitzsch, Bull (s), 18. Foxton (4), Wiinsitan'ley, McKay, Walker, Christie (s), 24. At the close of the final game Mr ■ Derham, v.ice-presideiiit.. of the Levin Club, expressed the thanks of his fellow clubmen for am afternoon’s sport that had been most enjoyable, and in particular he thanked the ladies of the Foxton Chib fo-r the delightful way m which they had entertained the visitors, as an earnest of which he called, for ’three cheers in the ladies’ honour. The Rev. Walton, President of the Foxton Bowling Club, made fitting response. The annual champion of champions tourney of the Maruawatu Centre will commence next week. Hie Singles wifi be played on Wednesday, the Rinks on Saturday, and the Pairs on the following Wednesday. Levin, at present, hold the Singles and Pairs Championships, and wiH defend then right as well as sending up a rink. The Nelson Bowling Club have installed four powerful lights an<l the top green is a very busy one sever a evenings a week. With a tournament once a week. The Maiitai Club also have their green lit. A monster electric light tournament is being ; arranged during Easter, and visiting bowlers will be able to partake. The Nelson Easter tournament this year promises to be a record, as entries are coming in fast. Arrangements are in band to play eighty rinks if necessary, and a.s Nelson weather is more certain than other parts, a very fine tournament is looked forward to. ' This season out of over one hundred and fifty playing day's, only fifteen times has there heen no pley in Nelson, and this should be a record for any bowling club in the Dominion.
