BEEF JUMP AT ADDINGTON.
FIRM PRICES RULE FOR PIGS. Beef prices advanced sharply at yesterday’s Addington sale, steers improving by 30/- to £2 and good quality beef' by 3/- to 5/- per hundred lbs. Rape lambs were in demand, and fat sheep showed an all round improvement, and for pigs firm prices were obtained. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At the Addington sale to-day store sheep monopolised most of the pens, all parts being represented. Lambs. Rape lambs were in demand, and advanced from 1/- to 1/6 oh* last week’s rates. Other classes advanced 1/-, ewes 2/-. Values were: ‘Forward rape lambs, 20/6 to 23/-; medium lambs, 18/6 to 20/-; small crossbred lambs, 14/- to 17/-; inferior lambs, 12/- to 13/9; cull lambs, 10/6 to 11/7; good halfbred wether lambs, 19/6 to 22/1; ordinary half bred lambs, 15/6 to 18/9; good half bred ewe lambs, to 25/-; goodcrossbred ewe lambs, to 23/-; small halfbred ewe lambs, 18/6 to 20/-; good two-toothed Romney cross ewes-, to 36/1; two-toothed Romney cross ewes, 26/- to 30/-; good four and sixtoothed Romney cross ewes, 30/- to 33/-; lower conditioned four, six and eight-toothed Romney cross ewes, 24/- to 27/-; four and five-year crossbred ewes, 22/6 to 28/-; four and five-year halfbred ewes, 23/9 to 28/10; two-toothed halfbred wethers; 20/- to 22/8; four and six-toothed halfbred wethers, 21/9 to 24/8. Fat lambs. —Medium supply met with a ready demand and scheduled prices were realised. Sheep. Fewer fat sheep were yarded, but prices showed an all round improvement, the better class of ewes meeting with a keen demand. Values: Extra prime wethers, to 37/7; prime wethers, 30/- to 33/-; medium wethers, 26/6 to 29/6; light wethers, 24/6 to 26/-; extra prime eries, 27/10 to 32/7; prime ewes, 24/3 to 27/-; medium weight ewes, 20/- to 23/10; light ewes, 17/- to 18/9; aged ewes, i 4- to 16/9. Beef. Beef prices advanced sharply, the entry being less than last week. Steers advanced 30/- to £2; good quality beef advanced 3/- to 5/- per 100 1b.,; medium weight prime touched 39/-; medium quality, 32/to 35/-; rough steer and heavy cow, 24/- to 30/-. Values were: Extra heavy weight steers, to £l9 7/6; heavy steers, £ls to £l7; medium quality steers, £ll 10/- to £l3; light steers, £8 to £lO 10/-; extra prime heifers, to £l4 7/6; ordinary heifers, £8 to £11; light heifers, £5 to £8; extra prime cows, to £l2 2/6; prime cows, £8 10/- to £11; medium cows, £5 10/- to £7 15/-; light cows, £4 5/- to £5. Prices of all vealers increased all round. Store cattle sold at late rates. Only 48 dairy cattle were entered. Values appreciated slightly. Pigs. For pigs firm prices were obtained. Porkers averaged 7id to B|d per lb.; choppers, sfd to 7Jd; weaners, 18/to 26/-; slips, 27/- to 32/-; stores, 33/- to 60/-.
