DEFICIENT BOARDING ARRANGEMENTS.
SHANNON TEACHERS' COMPLAINTS, l Shannon, as a town, appears to be suffering from a dearth of suitable boarding aceomimodaition for its lady teachers, as acoording to representations made at the last meeting of the Wellington Education Board, it is well-nigh impossible to secure permanent quarters,, this being one of the reasons advanced for the aumer-' ous changes in the personnel of the teaching staff .here. One teacher affirmed that during her 18 months' residence, she had moved no less than seven times. Another teacher considered that the fact of her having stayed for six months iii one home was remarkable. The Board were asked to consider a proposal whereby the teachers would find a house to be used as a hostel, the Eduoa/tion. Board or'the Department to purchase the requisite furniture. The whole facts were placed before the Board by Mr Harkness, who considered the case to be* a very deserving one. The Board were convinced as to the necessity of something being done, and to that end the question is to be referred to -the Board's staff, .who wall cause m investigation to he conducted so that a definite plan can be formulated.
