DROWNED IN THE BATHS.
NECESSITY OF PROPER SUPERVISION. DUNIEDIN, ;March 1. At the inquest on the body of Niofinan Bayley Young, the man found drowned in the Y.M.C.A. bafths on Friday, a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. The coroner, Mr Bindle, remarked that it was a common error thait if anyone saw a body in the water or hanging it should be left until the police arrived. That was aibsolute folly. The coroner was commenting ! on the fact that when the outline of deceased's body came into view, the custodian of the ba\ths had seemingly made no attempt, to recover it. It made no difference, however, as the body had been in the water over two hours, but the custodian could not have knowni for a certairaty that it was there ail that time. The coroner also stressed the necessity of something being done to minimise the risk of future fatalities in seeing that the premises were closed during the custodian's absence. '
