MILK SHORTAGE IN WELLINGTON.

SUPPLIES FROM OfTAKI. There is quite an air of activity about the Rahui. factory this summer, as owing to ,the shortage of milk in the 30 mile area and the increased sales By the City Council, the Milk Depl. has been forced to draw on Rahui to the limit of its resources.; At present 1-00 o-allons are being despatched for tow* as whole milk and the balance of ti-.e supply, about 1100 gallons, is being sent to town in the shape of sweet cream. As the whole milk has to be at the factory in time for the staff to trc.it the milk under the different processes, it can readily be imagined the Rahui suppliers are all "early birds" just now, seeing it is sent to Wellington by the 5.40 a.m. train. As an inducement for getting up whh the. proverbial sparrow an additional payment of -U-1 per lb. butter fat is paid <>n all milk and cream sent to the city.
