Many Sydney girls have been duped by tales of love and promise, of marriage into giving jewellery and money to a scoundrel. That is the conclusion that Detec-tive-Sergeants Barclay and Comans have come to after making an arrest in connection with many tales of woe they have heard. According to the police, a young man of ingratiating manner and appealing personality, has made <iuite a haul of jewellery and money from unsuspecting girls. It is said that ho courted many charming girls, telling each the old, old story, that she was "the only girl in the world. - ' He peems to have been an expert in the art of love-mak-ing, and a number of girls were so enamounred of his promises that they gave him valuable jejwellery, which was immediately pawned. Took Every Penny. One girl is said to have trusted her "lover" so far that she allowed him to operate on her bank account, and lie drew out every penny. The detectives had scant information to go upon. Detective-Sergeant Barclay was ringing up in a shop for more particulars when he saiw a face he recognised pass the door; Dropping the receiver, he dashed out. An arrest followed immediately.
