RACES IN THE AIR.
TIDE SOJ IN EIDER CUP. YACHT 'BUILDER'S OFFER. LONDON, January 20. The famous Cowes yacht-builder. Mr Sam Saunders, on hearing a broadcasted message that Britain was not entering for the Schneider Cur immediately telephoned to the Aero Club, and offered to build three or four challenge machines. There is a possibility of a new Glos-ter-Napier 'plane also entering. The Air Ministry, despite the policy of economy, has agreed to purchase any machine attaining a speed in the region of 270 miles an hour.
The Aero Club on January 13 cabled to the United States that it was impossible for Great Britain to organise a team to enter for the Schneider Cup in 1026. America refused to nostpone the contest, and Britain was therefore unable to compete. It was pointed out that France and Italy also were not entering and that therefore the Americans would need only to fly over to win the cup outright.
