ATHLETIC CLUB FOR SHANNON.
EVENING SPORTS TO BE HELD. About two years ago Shannon possessed a very strong athletic society, the sports gatherings being very successful, and drawing competitors from lorio- distances. Owing-to, the recent epidemic and also to the fact that the Honiahi wa s not available for use, the meetings were discontinued for the time being. With a view to resurrecting this club, which was an acquisition to the town, a well-attend-ed meeting was held on , Wednesday evening wlnm it wlas decided to carry on tins season., A strong comamltee Was set tip to arrange programmes and evening spouts are to be held fortnightly. Now that the electric light is installed in the Domain,- these evening sports should be carried on until well near the end of the stim£ner. • ~ x . The following officers were elected: President, Mr J. T. Bovis; vice-presi-dent, Mr U. E. Dowues; management and organising committee, Messrs .1. Gray, D. McLaggan, D. Sands, Sinclair, Watkins, Caldwell, Satherley, Quar'rie, Murdoch, Johnson and Birchall- programme committee: G. Watkins, G. Caldwell, Dr, MaGkereth, L. Satherley, H. B.olbinson; secretary, Mr T. Kohika; assistant secretary, Mr, A. Birchall; treasurer, Dir. Mackereth.
