MANOAHAQ DEMAND .mOtEAISING The Goterumiejnt resident electrical engineer at Shannon advised this week's meeting of the Mana/watiu>Qtroua Power Bowl that the board's load was, now approximately UOO k.v.a., and that, on the present growth, the guarantee of the board would be exceeded.in three years, and further, that from the rate of growth on, the Mangahao system, it might be necessary to restrict the load to 1500 k.v.a. The writer accord ingly asked if the board would increase its guarantee in conjunction with other hoards. The department, in its turn, he advised, would expedite the work at Waikaremoana, so that additional power Would be available in three years. "While it is true that our load has gone forward by leaps and bounds," said the chairman, Mr J. A. *Nash, M.P., on the reading of the letter, "this matter should be approached warily. . . I think we should reply stating that our engineer is at present absent, and that on his return we will take up the matter of increasing oar contract." Mr Arbon: Weren't we assured by the Department that we could get more power if we wanted it? Tlie chairman: No. We have to remember that our consumption will not continue to increase at the same rate as it has in the past.
