SHOWGROUNDS IMPROVEMENTS.
A BUSY WORKING BEE. A working bee comprising eighteen members of the A. and P. Association Committee toiled hard yesterday with spade and shovel in order to complete the work of improvement already commenced at the showgrounds. That the convenience amd usefulness of the new arrangements will appeal to exhibitors there seems little doubt, as there appears to toe' every possible allowance for the needs ol\stock whilst on show. i ..••',. ■-:; Where the new; buildings have been j placed .at the far end of the grounds a drafting-pen has been erected at the entrance and to the left of this is a further pen to hold the siutoject of the \ ■bullock weight-guessing competition. As was anticipated, additional accommodation has been made in the way of perils for grade■ and;young cattle. -* When the" 'Chronicle representative arrived .at the scene of operations yesterday...the receiving yard was practically complete and trenches were bein'g dug U> provide facilities for a, cattle-wash near the entrancegate and drinking water for the various pen s of cattle, sheep and pigs. The preparatory Vork in the sheeppens is practically, complete and a further working-paarty should finalise all there remains to be done there. Interest in the success of the coming show is by no means confined'to the menfolk, several ladies having already offered their serviices for work in which they will be indispensable, and of great assistance to the coinmittee.
