PEOPLE’S PICNIC.
NEW YEAR’S DAY, One of the novel events tor the People’s Picnic on New Year’s Day, will be the' decorated bicycles for boys. They will join the procession at the Post Office at 11 a-in. Already a large number have entered and the boys ar.e enthusiastic.' They shofuld make a fine display. Donations are still coming forward and the committee desire to again thank all those who have given. The Foxton Silver Band, eighteen in number, Will arrive at 10.30 a.m. and lead the process ion 'from the Post Office at 11 a.m. Car owners are asked to join in and if possible deoonate their oars, and win the prize. It is anticipated that the Maiori String Band will occupy a lorry, and so add greatly to the processibiv The paddling pool is now complete and will be ready for the little ones, and the grounds are being rolled and clipped and the Pa.vUiotn, has had a new coat of paint for the occasion. ' The “News” representative will be present and the name of the winners of the various events will be published later.
