ADDINGTON MEAT MARKET IMPROVES.
SMALLER YARDINGS AND HIGHER REOTJNS. CHRISTCHURCH Last Night. The entries for to-day’s Addington market were smaller than usual and there was an improved demand for most classes of stock. Stor6 sheep compi’ised a very small entry, mostly wethers and the demand was brighter than for some weeks. Good 4, G, and S tooth halfbred wethers, made 25/- zq 26/4 ordinary. 4, 6 and 8 tooth half-bred 23/3 to 23/8; two tooth half-bred wethers 22/S to 25/-; sound mouthed ewes, 27/- to 28/3. Fat lambs. —A heavy entry of 2000 head, which was keenly snapped up by butchers. Good medium weights made a full lOd per lb. heavy weights 9d. Extra prime lambs fetched, 34/6 to 36/10, prime 32/- to 34/-; medium 29/9 to 31/9; light 27/6 to 29/6. Fat sheep.—A much smaller yarding than usual and a keener sale throughout, prices being up to 1/6 a head better than for the preceding week. Prime wethers realised 31/6 Jo 34/- extra to 39/7, medium 28/6 to 31/-, light 26/6 to 28/3; prime ewes 26/6 to 30/-, medium 23/- to 25/6; light 20/- to 22/6; rough 17/fi 19/9.
Fat cattle.—Good' quality was evident in this entry. The demand was , brisk up to a point. Prime beef made from 38/6 to 41/6 per lOOlbs. and in a few cases to 42/6. Prime Heavy 35/- to 37/6, medium quality 31/6 to 35/-; light and inferior 27/6 to 31/- and rough down tp 22/6. Dairy cattle.—-A small entry. Best ealvers fetched £5 to £B/10/-; medium £3 to £4/10/-; springing heifers 12/10/- to £5. Fat pigs,—A slightly firmer sale. Choppers went at £2/10/- to £6/15/-; baconers £3/15/- to £5/17/6 (average per lb. 7d to 7-|d), porkers -48/^i-to 70/- (average per lb. 8d to BJ4XStore pigs.—A much easier sale.
