WiOODVILLE RETAINS DIXON GUP. LEVIN HOLDS KINN'EBURGH FEATHERS. Woodv-ille, who are the holders of the Dixon Cup, in beating Palmerston North by ,20 to 18 on' Saturday, retain the trophy. At the 20th head the scores were 18 all, but Qir the 21st Woodvijle scored a two and thereby established theft’ claim to the Cup. LEVIN y. SHANNON. Levin and Shannon met on the former’s green on Saturday to play for the Kinneburgh Feathers. Shannon sent over a strong team which, however, was 'unsuccessful. The visiting rink, comprising Messrs Whibley, Blyght, Murray, and Gagliardi (skip), scored 22, points as against the 23 points aggregated by Messrs Pylce (skip), Sigley, Clements Junr., and Suhan, the Levin rink. After the first head, and up to the 16th, Shannon were Jpading all the way. Levin then scored a five which brought them up to' 17, making the score 17—18. They their' scored a two on the 17th and one on the 18th, Shannon getting a two, thereby making 20 all o.n the 19th head. Levin retaliated with a three on the 20th head, which meant shannon 1 getting four to win. This they failed to do and by scoring only twO! they allowed the Levin rink to win\ by the narrow margin- of one point. Hie win was, therefore, by no means an easy one, 'both slides contributing some very fine play in a maftch that was interesting from the first bowl to the last decisive head.
