MONEY-LENDER'S CHARGES. COURT ORDERS REDUCTION. LONDON, November 2. In the action brought by a moneylender, Samuel Glaskie, against Sir Thomas Beecham and in the course of which the defendant admitted that he had borrowed £20,000 to £25,000 in 1924, and between £30,000 and £40,000 this year, the Judge delivering reserved judgment, held the interest demanded to have been excessive and harsh and unconscionable. The Judge reduced the rate of interest from' 100 to 50 per cent, and entered judgment for £7OOO. Glaskie had claimed £IO,OOO representing £6OOO for bills cashed, £2OOO money lent and £2OOO interest.
