BOWLING.
LEVIN WINS TRIANGULAR SHIELD. For the fourth time in the last five years the-Levin Bowling Club, have annexed the Triangular Bowling % Shield. On the home green on Wed nesday afternoon Levin met two rinks from each of Foxton and Shannon, the play resulting in Levin compiling a total for the whole .competition of IS4, while Shannon's score of 136 drew second iplace and Foxton third ' with 132. A strong, fitful wind from the south-west quarter blew light across the green, and as a consequence some very good shots were offset in effect by the wind's intervention! Despite this visiting rinks made excellent progress during the first forty minutes or so of play, Woods' (Foxton) rink in particular showing remark- j able form by winning the first five , heads in succession. -However, by half-time Levin were leading in every i rink, the scores being: Levin (Bull) 12, I Foxton (Christie) 9; Levin; (Suhan) 14, Foxton (Woods) 7; Levin (Hawke) 6,' Shannon (Bovis) F; Levin (Glem- / ents) 6, Shannon (Spencer) 4. By this, time the wind had developed a snap that caused some * discomfort among' the bowlers, btift made them very appreciative of the refreshing afternoon tea given by Mesdames Brown, Harkness, D;e Mataiianche and ■ Suhan. On resuming play Levin gave good proof of title to the Shield, and won with tlie comfortable margin of 48. * . ■ Scoring was as Mlows:— . Levin—'Monks, Derham, Ch-allies, Hawke (skip)—l7. Shannon—Butt, Aim, Clayton, Bovis ,(skip)-15.

Foxton—Huntley, Downes, Thomson, Christie (skip)—2o. Levin—Sigley, R-'outley, Pyke, Suhan (skip)—2B. Foxton—Healey, Walton, Walker, Woods (skip)—l4. , So far as the past five years are . concerned the best aggregate score in the Triangular Shield competitions is that of Levin in the 1921-22 season, when they placed 202 to their credit, and in the following season two rinks from the sanie\club gained 59, a score that has not. been equalled in the period mentioned. Again, the top score for four rinks is 99, put up by the Shannon Club fci the 1923-24 season and not yet eclipsed. At the close of ttte afternoon Mr C. H. Pyke (President of the Levin Clulb) said that the Triangular Shield competitions, did not have the winning of a trophy as the sole objective, so much, (as cultivating a fraternal spirit among cluibs. That this had been .accomplished could be. plainly seen by the unselfish, friendly spirit of rivalry that had prevailed throughout.
The Rev. W. H. Walton (Foxton) and Mr J. Bioivis (Shannon) congratulated the Levin club, on-its fine win and expressed their appreciation of the hospitable way in which they had been received..
