MARRIED IN AUGUST.
WANTS SEPARATION NOVEMBER
• A case of rapid disillusionment with married life came before Mr F, K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court in Auckland. A wife sought separation and maintenance. Her solicitor, in opening, stated that the oouple were only maried last August. The wife said when they married, iier husband asked her to ; live for a little while with her mother till he could get a house. They did so, but she could not get on with her mother-Lii-law. Her tin stand was a carpenter, and earned good money. She lived with her husband's .mother a lew weeks, tout could not get oni with, her. Her husband's mother .did not Like her from the first. She had been accused by her mother-in-law of theft. With her husband's consent, she went to stav with her tamja. people. She got a letter from him. , One sentence was: "If you want your freedom, I can get a woman for co-respondent." as a result of that letter she returned home, but did not get on any:better. Her husband slapped her face on Saturday hist dnd knocked, her down. He had said he would agree to a separation, and was willing to pay her 30s per week. Mr Hunt; Are you ready to go back to your husband/. _ Wife: I don't think I am in a fit state of health, sir. Mr Hunt; A little hard work won't do you any harm. What you want is. a home of your own. In reply to Mr Biernackl, for defendant, the wife -tdmitted she had been out twice when her husband arrived home lor tea, aiya that twice she had locked the ibedroom up. Mr Hunt: You want to live away from your husband on an allowance of £2 "per week. Wife: I don't want to go back to live with his nt'Other. ■ Mr v ßiernacki: You have been, married before?—Yes. My husband summoned me for restitution of conjugal rights and then divorced me. Mr Hunt (to the husiband): You are better without her, even if you pay a little per week. I will adjourn the case, and voui pay her 2Gs week. Addressing the wife, Mr Hunt said: "You had one husband, and got rid of him. You have married again,- and you should recognise you have duties to discharge in connection with your marriage."
