—; ‘ • ' QUARTERLY MEETING. ‘X. —mmmm-mrnmm 'The quarterly 'meeting of. the management committee" of the Horawhenua Patriotic Association was held in the .Y.M.C.A. rooms yesterday' afternoon. Mr Goldsmith (president) Was in the chair and there were also present Messrs C. S. Keedwell, W. Kilsby, J. G. Maclean, H. Whitehouse, and the secretary, M>r F. P". Walkley. The under-secretary-of the Department of Internal Affairs acknowledged Receipt of the quarterly returns up to 30th September. - - The executive’s action was eon- ’ firmed in granting £lO to a needy case, which was ultimately referred to the Wellington Society and a refund obtained.. Confirmation was also given to the payment of a grant in the case of a man in hospital who could not meet the instalments due on his property. During the quarter some twentyfive remittances on account of loans were received. v The Canterbury Patriotic Society forwarded £l3, 'being a refund of a grant made to one of the latter’s men living in the Horowhenua district. Two applications for loans, were considered, one of which was referred to another society on account of the applicant having previously resided there. The other was held £ver in the ifi etui time. / Accounts for payment totalled £1 2s 6d. Other minor business was dealt with, which finally concluded the proceedings.
