RECEIPTS STEADILY GROWING. The Horowhenua P.Qwer Board's receipts for power since April Ist'last total £14,508, which gives some idea of the size of the undertaking. Most of the large consumers have only recently come on to the lines, so thai the average figures, for the past seven months are expected to be exceeded for tlit! y<3ar. The Treasurer's report presented to lust meeting of the Board, gives the following interesting details of the Board's business:— WIRING GROUPS.

The hulk of the work in most of the groups is. now completed. The ucivinents to contractors during the month have totalled £431'13s 6d, and on the pay sheet for the day there is one contractor's account ■amounting to £391 -2s 2d. The remaining groups will he .of smaller dimensions and the payments will not he so large. Since last Board meeting a small group of 9 installations in the vicinity of Manakau North has been let to" Mr C. B. Gilmour for £165 Is 6d. In every instance so* far additions are made to the groups as the work proceeds. ACCOUNTS. During the month a further batch 01' accounts for installations and goods have been sent out. The response has been fairly good. The gross takings for the month (omitting shilling and. pence) amounted to £5547. .This sum is amide up as follows: Installations £lslO, service lines £314, motors, ranges, etc. £866, meter rents £B2, electricity £Sf774. The accounts for payment total £1524 5s id, of which amount £274 is chargeable to Power Fund, the balance to loan. The largest accounts are 'for-motor spirit, ranges, v hardwood, wire and insulators. The accounts for the Board's share 61' furnfslnng of offices and Board Room are also on the pay roll, the amount being £166.
