BABY’S BODY IN TRUNK.
THE MANGAWEKA CASE. Tliu “Yv'ungunui Herald's” Magavvelta correspondent supplies further particulars of the finding of the dea'd bodv of a baby in a trunk on VVedncsday afternoon. It is stated that the mother is single and about 30 years of age. She came to New Zealand about nine months, ago from the Old Country to work for some Mangaweka people she had known at Home. She was engaged in domestic duties and assisting to. milk some cows. The haby was born during the ni-ht in her bedroom, after which it was placed in a tin trunk. -The young woman got up at. the usual hour in the morning, went out mid lked the cows and later worked about, the house. Aftbr a rest in the' she went out again and commenced
milking, hut through exhaustion fell on the floor of the cowshed. The wife of her employer later found the dead body qf .the child in the trunk. The police were communicated with, and the young woman was conveyed to the Taihape Hospital, where she is making good progress.
