RUGBY MATTERS.

WEEKLY MEETING. I ' At Tuesday's meeting of the Management Committee those present were: Messrs Procter (chairman), Sloan, Frechtling, Robertshaw, Anderson, Hannan. An apology was received from Mr McDonald. Mr J. Pali advised that--the following junior players, from the southern end of the Union, would be classified ! as seniors, in the coming season:— Paraparaumu.—W. Parata, T. Parafa, P. Thomas, F. Morgan, J. Stewart, Otaki.—J. Tuho, E. Ropata. Hui Mai.—ri. Lamp. Weraroa.—Nahona, C. Cole.—Received. The junior match between Shannon and Foxton will be played at Shannon on Saturday next, the 26th Sept., on which date the senior Hui MaiCounty game takes place at the Levin Domain. The Otaki v. Foxton match for the Austin Banner is also to be played on Saturday next at Foxton, kick off 1.30 p.m. In regard to the coming match between the Horowhenua and Manawatu Referees, the secretary moved, and was seconded -by Mr Anderson, that the referees should pay their own expenses and take? the gate proceeds.— Carried.

The secretary advised that in future players in the various towns included in the combined union would be allowed a set travelling allow ance. That is to say, Paraparaumu plavers would receive, say, £1 per trip', Otaki, Levin, Shannon and 6 her players being made a pro rata allowance according to distance. The committee considered this a move in the right direction, and agreed it should do a good deal towards decreasing the bugbear 'of trav-iving expenses, an item which, as the season progressed, appeared to mpjdly increase unless close supervision was given to the question.
