A Foxtan resident had a rattier unenviable experience while motoring in the storm experienced locally last Friday -night. He was on his way to Poroutawhao when a hash of lightning temporarily blinded him and before he knew where he was the car had skidded into a drain on the side of the road. Fortunately no damage was done, but it was found impossible to extricate the car owing to the slipperv state of the ground and it had to' be abandoned. It was pulled out early the next morning, however, by a motor lorry and was able to proceed on its way immediately.
