TOSSED BY A BULL.
FARMER SAVED BY DOG, BROKEN RIBS AND SHAKEN. MORRINSVILLE, Sept. 11. A Morrinsville farmer, Mr J. Goodwin, sustained severe shock and two broken ribs ny being tossed by a. bull on Ms property.", His dog saved him from being gored to death. The bull, a two-year-old Jersey, was brought from the South about 12 months ago, and" Mr Goodwin consid' ered it a quiet one, and never had any fear of it. He went into the paddock where he kept two hulls, caught one of them and began to lead it away. The other one, the two-year-old Jersey came up behind him. • He faced the animal, hut suddenly it gave a snort and tossed the unfortunate man over its head. Mr Goodwin had the presence of mind to call his dog, which kept the bull at bay until'he was able to. reach and cross a stream about two chains away, the only avenue of escape. The hull eluded the dog- and followed him, Mr Goodwill getting oyer the stream just in time. It was an hour after the accident before the injured man could lObtain * assistance. He was brought to the hospital at Morrinsville.
