The Horowhenua County Council received notice at its meeting on Saturday from the Department of Internal Affairs that a petition had been receiv--1 ed praying for the exclusion of a certain area from Otaki Borough and the inclusion of such area within the Horo- . whenua County. One month was allowed for the receipt of objections to the proposal, after which date the matter would receive consideration. The chairman said this land, if it was transferred to the County, would still be liable for the special rates it was pledged to. The owner s would not escape the incubus by coming into the County. Cr. Broadbelt said perhaps they would escape future rating.
