DRUNK WHILE IN CHARGE OF CAR. AUCKLAND, Sept. 14. A doctor, whose name was ordered to- be suppressed, was charged at the Police Court and pleaded guilty to being drunk while in charge of a motor car. Mr Poynton, S.M., imposed a sentence of three days’ imprisonment. Defendant’s counsel pleaded for a fine as in the case last week against another professional man. Mr Poynton: Yes, he was fined £■£, hut he damaged his car £35.” Eventually the Magistrate reconsidered the matter and imposed a fine of £25 in the present case.
