OFFICIAL BRASS PLATE
TAKEN FROM SUPREME COURT ■ A brass plate, on which was engravllie Royal Coat of Arms, and the words “Supreme Court,” disappeared from the wall at the King Street entrance to the Sydney Supreme Court recently. This sign-plate had directed people to the interior of the building for nearly a century. A cleaner made the discovery, when in his morning rounds, he went to clean the plate. He found that the screws which held the plate in position, had been carefully removed evidently by a screwdriver, and the brass plate, measuring about 14in. in length, by about 12in. in width, was gone. The local board beneath was not damaged. The property of the New South Wales Government, the plate was valued at £B. -It is not the first of such thefts. Some years ago a handsomely carved railing post, topped with an elaborate representation of a crown, was stolen from outside the No. 1 Jury Court. It has never been recovered. ,
