NATIONALISTS READY FOR EARLY ELECTION.

- WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the course of an interview today. Mr. George Forbes, leader of the National Party, stated: “From all indications, it seems the . generat election will take place earlier than usual this year, probably about the end of October or early in November.” “With that in view,” he said, "the National Party is pushing on with its organisations in tho electorates and I must say that I am very pleased with the fine type of men who are offering themselves as candidates for the party r.nd wilh the offers of help which are coming in from all parts of the Dominion. The outlook for the Nalional Party at the election is very good indeed.

“The coming election will bo more than usually interesting, from the fact that the Nationalist Party will be appealing to the electors-to support it in its endeavour to bring into beir.j a strong progressive party, which will make stable and effective Government, . the first consideration and tt show its sincerity in this respect, the following resolution was passed unanimously at a caucus meeting of tho party: “That the National Party, whether it does or does not secure a complete majority over other parties at the general election, will do its utmost to bring into being those who support the formation of an efficient and stable national Government, composed of th e best brains and most suitable men in Parliament who place national interests before those of the party ana favour giving effect to a sound, forward, national policy for the development of the country’s resources and tho progress and prosperity of its people.”

“This,” said Mr. Forbes, “is in accord with our action in Parliament this session, when we honestly tried to straighten out the present political tangle.”
