THE FUR MARKET.

WELLINGTON RABBITSKIN SALE

j Messrs Dalgety and Go., Ltd., report:—We held our 4th sale of rabbitskins in Wellington on Friday, when we offered a large catalogue to a fully representative attendance of Southern buyers, exporters and fiiirI riers. Our selection was. a very nice one and comprised all grades. Competition was exceptionally keen for tne super lots and we found prices much on a par with rates ruling at our July sale. For our super winter does,we secured 96£d. per lb and for super winter bucks 94£d. Blacks were in demand and furriers paid up to 96J-d per lb. As the skins are now going off, prices realised are extremely good, and we would advise trappers to forward their catches immediately and thus secpre.. the present high" prices ruling. If top prices are desired, careful stretching is absolutely necessary, also the skins must be thoroughly fatted. We are at all times pleased to make advances on consignments immediately they arrive into store, and labels, advice notes and market reports will be posted- on application to any of our branches or agencies. The following is the range of prices, the quotation being per lb: Runners and suckers 30d, summers and racks bkn. 38£d, prime racks 40d, heavy racks 38d, milky does 46d, early autumn 50d, late autumn 72d, autumn 60£d, incg. winters 72d, early winters 87(1, Ist winter bucks 92?,d, Ist winter does 91d, super winter bucks 94-Jd, super winter does 96Jd, winters 16id, winters spotted 65d, early winter spotted 60d, incg. winder spotted 63d, autumn spotted 60d, late autumn spotted 49|d, outgoings 59d, super blacks 96id, winter blacks 96id, early and incg. winter blacks 70d, 2nd winters 76d, ( winter B.S. 59d, winter broken 62|d, winter stale 66&d, springs 49£d, hareskins 50£d. WELLINGTON OPOSSUM SKIN SALE

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our first sale of the season on Friday. Our offering comprised 3000 skins drawn chiefly from the Wellington, Nelson, and Featherston districts. Buyers from all the principal iur buying houses, also local buyers and furriers were represented, and the demand was exceptionally keen for all descriptions. Considering the quality of the skins submitted, trappers who forwarded skins bo us for sale must be gratified at the prices realised. Blues and greys were most eagerly sought after and for a line of super blues from the Whakatiki district we secured the exceptional price of 23s per skin, equalling the top prices of the Dunedin sales. Our super blacks brought 15s Bd, an advance of 2d per skin on the southern sales. From the commencement of the season, we have impressed upon trappers that the only way to get full market value is to sell skins at auction. This season, private buying has depleted our offerings somewhat and tempting prices have been paid, but the prices realised by us at today's sale will convince trappers that auction prices, on the average per skin, are higher. The following is the range of prices, the quotation being per skin:—Super blues 235, first blues 16s 9d to 18s 3d, blues 14s 4d to 16s Id, super greys 15s 6d, Ist greys 13s to 14s 7d. greys 8s 9d to Us lid, super blacks 15s Bd, Ist .blacks 10s tfl to 13s 9d, blacks tanned 22s Id, blacks 8s Id, super browns 12s Id, Ist browns 9s lOd to 10s 4d. browns 7s 8d to 8s 6d, slates 7s, kittens 6s, reds 7s lid to 8s Id, hush rats blue and grey 3d to Is.
