BE it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could pot be justified by the law of Moses.—Acts 13, 38. , ' : ■ All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.—Rom. 3,23. About 96 years ago, George Wilson, a prisoner under sentence of death in the United States, was granted a pardon by the President. He refused to accept the pardon, and the question was raised as to whether it was a pardon if he did not accept it. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court gave the decision, that, “a, pardon is a paper, the value of which depends upon its acceptance by the person implicated.’ Wilson refused forgiveness and he was hanged. All unforgiven ones are under the death sentence of God, who is infinite in holiness. The hand of faith must be" put forth to receive His offered mercy, even forgiveness of sins through the Man Christ Jesus. Until He is accepted the sentence remains.
