SHANNON CROQUET CLUB.

ANNUAL. MEETING. The above meeting w.as held on Friday afternoon, the President (MiBeard) presiding over a good attendance of members. After declaring the meeting, opened, the President gave an outline of the work done in the past year, stating that he was more than satisfied with the way in which the Club had progressed and in this connection ne made eulogistic reference to the good work done by the Club's secretary (Mrs B. Spencer) to whom he moved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Clayton; vice-president, Mrs Aim; secretary and treasurer, Mrs B. Spencer; committee, Mesdames Watterston, , Beard, Capes, McL-achlan, F. Brown, and Biaiikie; club captain, Mirs F. Brown. GENERAL. It was decided that the matter of refreshments be held over and discussed later with bowlers, bun it be a recommendation that two croquet players and the wives of two bowlers provide afternoon tea each day, except Club days, when all bring a plate. It'was resolved'that the subscription be the same as last year, viz., 25/-. On the motion of Mrs Brown it was decided that the Club become affiliated to the Palmerston North Association. < A notice of motion was given by Mrs MoLachlan, "That all subscriptions be paid within one month from the date of opening, failing which, 5s will be added to all outstanding subscriptions after that date. . Mrs Brown moved and Mrs Capes

seconded that a vote of thanks be passed to the retiring president (Mr Beard) for his services to the Club during the past year in organising and forming the Club. In.moving 1 the motion Mrs Brown eulogised the good work done by Mr Beard, which she said was much appreciated by the members. The motion was carried by acclamation. Mr Beard thanked the ladies for their kind remarks and said 'he would be only too pleased to help in any further way and anything that he had done for the Club had been a pleasure to him. At the previous meeting a notice of motion had been given that a dance be arranged shortly. After discussion it was decided to hold a dance and that arrangements be left over until a committee meeting. Eleven new members were elected. Mrs F. Brown donated a trophy for the best second year player.in the singles and Mr J. Beard also donat- ■ ed a trophy for the winner of an event to be deckled upon. Both donors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
