TOMBSTONE MATCH

Next Saturday local golfers will have the chance of playing in what always proves to be- an interesting and amusing game—a tombstone match. It will be played over nine boli'.s and' each player will be given a certain number of strokes which he must complete before planting bis tombstone. For this match of nine holes the strokes each player will be given will in most cases be 38 (bogey) plus half his handicap-. Each player will inscribe his-tombstone (which may be a small piece of wood about twelve inches by two), with a suitable epitaph, governed by conditions of play, position of resting place of last stroke, state of player’s temper, and any other natural or unnatural causes that may inspire one to write humorously. Each player’s number of strokes will .be posted at the golf house before the match commences. The owner of the tombstone nearest the home hole wins -the-.match. Each player should be careful to see that liiis" tombstone is .(signed with his name. Time of starting 1 p.m. Choose own partners. The owner of the most amusing epitaph will toe given' a prize.
