From the Toko-mam Club protesting against the re-playing of Huff, a Foxton player, who, it was alleged, was ordered off during the Tokomaru v. Foxton match, played on Saturday last. Early in the game this player was cautioned tor rough play and was subsequently ordered off. After a short time had elapsed he was called into play by the referee. The Tokomaru Club; quoted the rule which says that if a referee orders a man off, he must not allow the .player,to take further part in that game.—Resolved that no further action be taken until the referee submits a report of the match. Mr Austin, who witnessed the match in question, said that, although Huff had certainly been warned, he had not been ordered off. Mr Hutchins concurred, as he also had been present at the match. With regard to the selection of players for the North v. South Island match the secretary submitted the names of Moynihan a.nd Jacob as forwards, which, had been sent to the selectors in. Wellington. Mr Hutchins reported that eight of the Foxton Junior team would be away in camp during the next ten days, and therefore there was no possible chance of this team carrying on. After some discussion the following motion was confirmed:—"That all junior-matches be postponed for two playing Saturdays on account of so many players » being • in camp, and, there" shall only be two rounds." Regarding the Manawatu v. Horowhenua match, it was resolved that the secretary write the Manawatu Union re a junior rep. fixture as a cur-tain-raiser to the senior match to be played in Palmers-ton North on 15th August. Mr Procter urged putting up a fence on the,Levin Domain, and mentioned that last Saturday's match was stopped in order to get the crowd back. It was agreed the secretary of the Wanderers' Club be advised that the fence must be erected before Saturday next. The Referees' Association has been asked to advise referees of gamas that results of matches should be forwarded without delay to Mr Sloan. Mr Sloan, the representative of the Referees Association, mentioned that Mr Dan Mckenzie, President of the New Zealand Referees' Association, would -be coming to Levin early in August, to lecture on the rules of the game. Mr McKenzie has already been to Marlborough, and other centres, and the clubs were very enthusiastic about the benefits derived therefrom. It would be an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts and players in the district to avail themselves of. It would also help to enlighten a certain section of the public who were continually criticising the referees' decision. Mr Robinson said he was satisfied the Horowhenua referees could not be excelled throughout New Zealand. (Hear, hear). The secretary of 'the Manawatu Rugby Union telegraphed that the selectors were to meet at 2 p.m. in Wellington on Thursday last. The secretary (Mr Carmichael) had made the trip to Wellington in place of the selector (Mr T. Wrigley) who was unable to go, and the management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union desired to place on record its appreciation of the way in which Mr Carmichael had so successfully carried out his duties while down there. A. draft copy of the proposed Manawatu - Horowhenua amalgamation agreement was. before the committee, and a-'meeting of delegates from both Unions is to be held to consider these.
