IN COLLISION WITH CAR. As a result of colliding- with a motor car at Shannon, a, motor cyclist named Arthur Gilbransen, a newspaper runner, was admitted to tile Palinersjton iNjortii Hospital last evening suffering from a broken. Leg. •The injured man was cycling 10 Paekakariki and was travelling up the second lull past Shannon at about 4.30 p.m. A Palmerston North car came round a sharp bend in the road, and in endeavouring to cross further to his left side to permit of its passage the cyclist had his leg forcibly struck and broken by the buffer of the oncoming vehicle, Tne cyclist retained his seat, and his machine plunged toward the edge of the cliff. -With great presence of mind, he threw himself off the cycle, which lodged in the fence, and just avoided a seventy-foot fall. Some difficulty was experienced in securing a doctor, but Dr. Mackereth, of Shannon, was eventually obtained, and the "Limited" express being stopped at Shannon, the sufferer was removed to Palmerston North and the Hospital.
