HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.
TUESDAY'S MEETING. The Management committee qi the Horowhehua Rugby union held a special, meetirig on Tuesday evening, when the chairman (Mr J. Procter) presided over a full meeting. Before proceeding with tne business of the meeting, on the motion of Mr T, Wrigley, a motion of condolence with Mrs Massey, and the relatives of tlie late Prune Minister, was passed in silence, all standing. CORRESPUNDEN GE. The Hui Mai Club applied to the Union to pay doctors' bills inoutrred by players injured during the course of last season. It was decided that according to the rules of the Union, the Union was not empowered to do this, and that a reply to this effect be sent. MAORI COLLEGE TEAM. It was. decided to notify the Maori College, Otaki, that they must register their team under their own name, and nqt as an Otaki third grade team as at present OTAKI GATE. As the result of a notification from the gatekeeper of the Otaki football ground to the effect that the Otaki Chamber of Commerce held that a proportion of gate takings should be donated to the hockey club, it was decided to write to the 'Chamber informing them that the Ujnion was carrying on under the arrangement as made with the old Council until other arrangements were made'with the new Council. BEBBINGTON SHIELD.
Mr J. Bebbington, donor of the Bebbington Shield, attended the meeting and recommended that Dannevirke be included in the unions entitled to compete for this trophy, in place of Manawatu, which had not, since the Shield was donated, availed themselves of' the opportunity of competing. This was agreed to. FREE-KICK RULE. It was decided that all Cluhs be notified of the N.Z.R.U.'s rule that the placer of a ball in the case of a freekick, may take the kick. RE-INSTATEMENTS.
It was decided that no action be taken in the case of the application of the Miranui Club for the re-instate-ment of Eagle and Hemniingsen to the status of junior. N.S.W. REP. FIXTURE.
On the motion of Mr Wrigley, seconded by Mr Robertshaw, it was decided to write to the secretary of the N.Z.R.U. asking if it is not an error that Wellington is included in tne game against N.S.W., as this fixture was allotted to Horowhenua-Mana-watu at the annual general' meeting. TROPHIES.
It was decided that Otaki.; be asked to forward Junior Cub to the Shannon Club, and that further all trophies be handed in to the Union by the end of May. On the motion erf Mr Robinson, seconded by the chairman, it was decided that in the event of Uie N.Z.R.U. Cup being sent to the Horowhenua Union for exhibition, it be exhibited in the four centres. It was decided that the. trophies belonging to the union be insured for the sum of £l5O. Mr Procter moved and Mr Anderson seconded, that, the Mayors of the four centres be sent a double season complimentary ticket—Carried.
