The Mayor informs us that within a few days water will be available to every house within the Borough.

The successful applicant for the lease of the Borough house in Stout Street was Mr Warman. The decision was made by ballot, there being several applicants.
Mr W. Cochrane announces in our advertising columns that he lias started a Sunday charabanc service to Palmerston North leaving the post Ufliee, Shannon at I p.m., and leaving Palmerston North oil the return at 4.30 p.m. .
The chairman id the School Committee (Mr R. L. Tippler) has been notified that a meeting of delegates from the school committees in the Horowhenua district will be held in L,evin on Thursday, AprHl 30tli, at 2 p.m. to discuss a united dental' scheme.
The dance held in the Pacifii Unll on Tuesday evening by the Anglican Church Garden Fete Committee was most" successful,, the hall being crowded. Mr IPat Cole officiated as M.C. and Mrs Butler supplied the music, a most enjoyable time being spent by those who attended.
This evening the Druids’ dance will be held in the 'Druids HalP to which, all are invited. Arrangements have been made to give those who attend a good time.. A splendid supper will be provided and the best of music has been arranged for and nothing will be left wanting to make j an enjoyable evening’s dancing. j
At the Gouncil Chambers on Tuesday evening the final meeting of the Borough Gouncil was -held prior tq the forthcoming election on Wednesday next. Present: The Mayor (Mr W. Murdoch) and Crs. Gunning, Curran, Hyde, Butt. After dealing with one or two minor, matters and passing accounts for payment the meeting closed. At the conclusion the Mayor gaid that, as the meeting was the last of the present Council, he felt ffiat, whatever differences there had been among them, all would agree that they had done . their best and he hoped that now their little battle was over, all strong feeling would be buried and that they would all be good citizens. He thanked counOillors for the assistance they had rendered him, after which he entertained those present to refreshments.
An accident, which might *ave had serious consequences-, occurred th the railway yards on Tuesday last, when Mr Jos. Feetham, who is . employed by the P.W.D., was injured through becoming crushed while shunting trucks. A motor lorry was engaged in hauling some railway trucks and in endeavouring to remove the chain used for towing purposes, Mr Feetham got jambed between the truck and chain owing to the former having more way on than lie thought, with the result that he was pushed up,, against the lorry. Mr Feetham at once received attention and was removed to”liis. home where it was- found he was badly bruised around the abdomen. He was fortunate in that the injuries were not moire serious.
Cr. Hyde, at the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening, said he believed that for a matter of a few pounds Mr piggott was prepared to erect a foot bridge from the bank to the portion of the traffic. bridge now standing across the Manawatu liver on the Shaonon-Foxtoii road. At present, he said, the workmen proceeding to arid from Shannon to the mill at Mqutoa had to cross either by tiie punt or in the cage, with the result that they lost a lot of time on Hie road, apart from the inconvenience they were ,often caused. He was of opinion this, was a matter for recommendation to the new Council. At last meeting of ttie Horowhenua County Council it was decided to clear out the liokio stream ;■$ had i)ecn done in the past; also to notify the 'Koputatfoai property-owners below the Tavistock Bridge to immediately clear the stream of growth.
In response to many requests, Messrs Hotchen and Watts have decided to run the usual bus service to Palmerston North on Anzac Day.
Before proceeding with the business of the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union, on the" motion of the chairman (Mr j. Procter) a vote of sympathy with the ■Prime Minister, Mr W. F. Massey, in his serious illness, was passed. Votes of sympathy with Mr Hutchings (Foxton) in the loss of his wife, and with the relatives of the late Mr W. Revan, were also carried. Favourable comment was passed at the annual meeting of the Hiorowhenua Rugby Union, on the small amount (£7 19s 9d) showing in the balance sheet as representing referees’ expenses. The secretary, Mr L. Carmichael, stated that last year was the first time that the Union had been represented on the N.Z. Referees’ Association, this costing money. They had increased their grant to the Association from £5 to £IQ, and yet the expenses were less than they had been last year, a fact which reflected the greatest credit on the Rererees’ Association. (Applause).
