FIRE IN SHANNON.

About 2.30 a.m. qn Easter Monday morning Mr H. Hayes' residence, situated at the top of Stout Street, was totally destroyed by fire. Mr Hayes, who was theYmly person in the house, was awakened by a loud crash in the dining room and on entering the room found it in flames. Hq endeavoured to save some of his belongings, bui being alone cQnld only save a few articles. It is 'believed, the fire started near the cupboard alongside .the fireplace, a fire having been an the latter the previous evening, as the crash Mr Hayes heard was the collapse of the cupboaird. The house, which was a five-roomed one, was insured for £6BO with the State Fire Office. It is understood there was no; insurance on the furniture, therefore Mr Hayes will be a heavy loser.
