l The two c rinks from Shannon that i competed at the Manawatu Centres' . tournament at Palmerston North during the holidays did very well. The rink consisting qf Morgan, Cronquesl, B. Spencer and E, Spencer (skip) , winning six games and losing two m i the section play, With the result that [ they played off w.ith the section witiI iters. In the first round of which they J drew a bye. Meeting Lyall Bay (Reid) ' iu the next round they commenced [ well with a. four! Spencer took the i honours on most of the heads in the j j opening stages, but a useful four and ,*i couple, of twos brought Relid the 10
'at the 10th. head. At the 14th head the teams were 14 all, a,nd then Reid began to gallop, puttmg in three threes and a two, thereby establishing such a lead as to make Spencer's task of catching him too great. LyaJl Bay finally winning by 26 to 17. The rink j consisting of Capes, Blake, Murray J and Gagliardi (skip), although not / reaching the sectional winners rounds I won three games and lost five, three J of which were only lost by one point. •
