BOY STEALS ROW OF HOUSES.

In a reminiscent lecture in Newcastle (Eng.)iSir Basil Thomson, who was director of criminal investigation during the war, told the following- story:—"One boy in London was immensely proud of having earned the distinction of being the only boy who stole a row of houses. The houses which should have been condemned, were uncondemned but empty. The lad, having read a notice board, went round to the agent and secured the key on the pretence that a prospective tenant wanted to look around. Weeks later, somebody said very casually to the agent: 'I see you are pulling down those old houses.' After recovering from the shock the agent hastened to the site and found a housebreaker well advanced with the job. The boy had pocketed the proceeds from the sale of tiles and lead, and so forth."
