HOROWHENUA REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.
The annual general meeting of the Horowhenua Referees’ Association was held on Friday evening, there being a good attendance of members. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. The report presented by the secretary, Mr R. Sloan, stated that during the past season a match had been played at Palmerston North against the referees of the Manawatu Association, and although the local men suffered defeat, the match was oi value as bringing the of the two Associations together for the good of the game. The general feeling was that such matches should be encouraged and the Manawatu referees be asked to play a game at Levin during tiie coming season. Last year a direct representative was sent to the annual * general meeting and conference of tne Nevv Zealand R.R.A. and from the report which was brought back and information received, it was decided that direct representation be continued. If the Association is successful in obtaining representation on the Horowhenua Rugby Union, meetings will be held on the night before that on which the Rugby Union meets. The fact that a (number of new' teams are being started throughout the Union makes it imperative that further referees he obtained and old players are requested to come along and take the whistle. The balance sheet showed a credit of £l, which was considered satisfactori REPEESENTATION ON UNION. The question of representation on the Rugby Union was discussed at length, the feeling being that the Association should be represented as was done at Palmerston North and. Wellington, it being understood that the Association delegate should not have voting power on , Rugby Union matters, but would attend meetings merely to look alter the interests of the Referees’ Association, and answer any questions relating to Association affairs, (thereby keeping the. two bodies in closer touch than at present. A resolution to this effect was passed and will go iorward to ' the Rugby union m due course. , . The secretary was voted a grant pi £2 2s in recognition of his services to the Association.
