ST. PATRICK'S BALL.

A HUGE SUCCESS. It is quite evident tliat St. Patrick’s Bali held in the Druids’ Hall on Tuesday evening is one of tlie most popular annual functions of its kind held in this district, as like its predecessors there was a large attendance, the hall being well Ailed, .visitors coming from Tokomaru, Levin and Palmerston North. The hall and supper room had been nicely decorated with old gold, yellow] and green steamers, while no pains had been spared to make the function a success. The floor was in splendid order and the whole of the arrangements reflected credit on the committee responsible and together with the excellent music supplied by the Jazzmanian Orchestra, the first bail of the season in Shannon was an unqualified success. The duties of Master qf Ceremonies were in the efficient hands of Mr J. T. Bovis, who was assisted by Mr \V. Quarrie. The supper arrangements were carried out by a ladies’ committee under the supervision of Mesdames Butler, W. MOiynilhan, J. Hennessey, J. Curran, and Miss Bonfield, who had prepared a most pleasing supper. During the evening extras were played by Mrs Butler and Messrs. B. Spencer, S. Parsons (Levin) and Parr '(Tokomaru). Dancing was carried on until the early hours and ' everyone spent an enjoyable time with the result that the committee have every reason to congratulate themselves on the success which rewarded their efforts.
