BUTTER PRIDES.

THE MARKET IMPROVING. Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co. report:— The following are the top quotations on the London market for the' past three weeks:— 1

Butter. —As will he seen from the above quotations, salted butter has steadily improved during the last three weeks and the market is still firm at round about 180/-. There bas neen increased buying on the Continent, which, has enabled prices to be maintained. It has to be borne in mind, however, that the heaviest arrivals from. New Zealand have not yet reached the market.

Forward Butter.—Forward buyers, generally, are not showing, very much interest in future shipments. Sales have been made at round about Is 4Jd for Mutter afloat or to- be shipped during March. There is still a premium for unsalted butter of nearly Id per lb for forward shipments. Cheese:—Cheese has continued to firm and has reached 102 s with a firm market. This must be considered very satisfactory. There has been a fair amount of enquiry for forward cheese up to 1M per lb. for afloats and prompt shipment, with a reduction for March make. Forward buyers are not very keen for later shipments at the present time and do not seem prepared to give up to the present spot prices for end of season’s cheese.
