THREE FOXTON CLUBS—ONE PARK
BOROUGH COUNCIL LAYS DOWN STRAIGHT RULES. Wiiile the Foxton Borough council was in session. Messrs Winstanley, Leaver, Smith, and McColl, representing the Association Football Club, and Messrs F. Robinson and S. Austin, representing the Foxton Rugby Club and the Hqrowhenua Rugby Union, waited on the Council with the object of securing the use of. Easton Park for the coming season. An application from tfhe League Football Club was also received. The Mayor, after hearing the deputationists, said that the Council had been given a knotty problem. It did not wish to favour any body, but had the welfare of all sport at heart. iu> moved: "That the basis of letting Easton Park for football niatdhes be set, down at 30s for Saturdays and public holidays, 15s fur Wednesdays and 15 per cent, of gross takings on other days; that the clubs be asked to submit a list of fixtures for which they will require the Park, and that the reserves committee decide the final allocation. Also that any club having booked a groiund must . pay tiiie rental within 24 hours of the time .set down for the match. In the event of the match not being played, the rental must still be paid. Any club mav arrange with another to use the grounds as mav he agreed upon, the club booking the ground to be held responsible for rent. In case of nonpayment, no further matcihes shall l.i</plaved uii the Park by the defaulting club until payment has been made, and the Council, or its ap-
pointee, may proceed to allot the Park to another club. In laying down fhose rules, the Council desires it to be known that it is its wish that important matches likely to be of interest to citizens shall be played on the Park, lesser matches being played on the various other grounds available." This was seconded by Cr. Bryant and carried.
A request for the running of a direct fat stock train firom North Auckland to Westfield was nuade to the Hon. J. G. COates, Minister for Railways. "If you have a train load we will pull li through," replied the Minister. The Department was g°hig to give service, altihough it was only just feeling its feet.
