SHANNON’S WATER SCHEME.
(To the Editor). Sir,—ln your paper of the 3rd inst Dread a report of a special meeting of the Council to deal with (he water scheme and I see that the Councillors asked the Enginer to resign. I am very surprised indeed to see this for I would like to know why they are trying to make a scapegoat of tue Engineer. I think it would be just as logical if we ratepayers asked the members of the Coiuncil to resign. The Council is composed of so-called hard-headed businessmen and fanners and why did they allow .themselves to get into the present tangle and ali they can do now it to try and make the Engineer look a 100 l and ask Jjim to resign. Cr. Gunning, Chairman of the Waterworks Committe, reported alter- making an inspection that only 25 per cent of tlie trenches had been filled m, and Air Murdoch, the Mayor, proposes to get tiie two roadmen to do ull this work. Now, I would like to ask Mr Murdoch how be expects the roadmen to do afl. tins work and look after the r oads q 1 the Borough as well. I .think it would be a -very good, suggestion if Air Murdoch took up his eight Councillors and gave them a shovel each and asked them to do, the ruling; ''under his personal supervision and i do not think 1 would be asking too much in this. in conclusion I w.opld like to remind the. Mayor- and councillors of .‘Shannon that we want this water scheme, to be finished and when they start again 1 would like them ito see that alf the houses are on the plan. We are getting urd of these Kathleen Mavourneen jbjbs. Tour, etc. RATEPAYER.
