LEVIN STOCK MARKET.
TUESDAY'S QUOTATIONS, There was a good yarding of sheep at the Levin weekly sale on Tuesday, but in sympathy with other markets, buyers were inclined to operate cautiously, except for outstanding lines. Good irVti ewes made to 37/3, with 4 and 5-year ewes 24/3 to 29/6; forward 3-th wethers were to demand, and sold at 32/6 to 35/. Several lines of rams were offered, 4-th Southdown ram& of good average quality, making 11 to 12J guineas. Romneys were not too keenly sought after, good 2-tos making 4 to 7 guineas. There was a heavy yarding of cattie, chiefly cows. In beef, with the exception of two pens, all toe offerings were cows of medium quality. Light but well-finished Hereford cross steers made £l2 1/, and prime fat heifers £B.
A heavy yarding of pigs met witm at ready sale at late rates. Prices were as follow— Pigs.—Weaners 12/ to 15/, light stores 20/ to 25/, heavier to 22/, light porkers 34/ to 46/, good porkers £2 10/ to £3 2/. Sheep.—Forward 2-th wethers 32/6 to 35/, forward ewes 21/5, 24h ewes 33/7 to 37'3, 4 and; 5 year ewes 24/3 to 29/6, cull lambs 12/, 4-th Southdown rams 11 to 12J guineas, 2-th Romney rams 4, to 7 guineas, aged Shropshire rams 30/ to 2 guineas. Cattle.—Uight fat bullocks £l2/1/, prime fat Iheifers £B, fat cows £6/15/ to £7/2/6, lighter £4/5/ to £5, forward cows £2/10/ to £3/10/, store dows 29/ to £2, yearling steers 39/, empty heifers 30/ to £3, potter bulls £5/10/, £6/15/ to £7/5/, according to weight
