SHANNON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
* Tiie fortnightly meeting of tbe Shannon Borough Council was meld m the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. Present; The Mayor (Mr W. (Murdoch) and Crs,. Board, Curran, Butt, Hyde and Gunning. CORRESPONDENCE.
A complaint was received from a ratepayer that the pipes laid from the main to his dwelling had not been done to suit his convenience. On hearing the Engineer's explanation it was decided to notify the writer that tine pipes had been placed where it was thought most convenient, but if he requires them removed to a more suitable position they can ,be altered. From Park and Adams, solicitors to the Horowhenua Power Board, asking fur return of agreement between the Board and Borough Council, for street lighting.—lt was resolved that the Board be written to pointing out that the Council considers the agreement is unnecessary, but if necessary tne cost should be apportioned equally between the Board and Council.
. a permit was applied for to erect a House in Vance Street.—Referred to die Engineer. A complaint was received that a car owner in the Borough was doing taxi work without a license.—He is to be. notified a license is to be taken cunt immediately, otherwise a prosecution will follow.
A request was received from Mr Liggins to have his farm, wnich is outside the Borough, connected up with the water supply—lt was decided to inform him the Council were willing to connect his farm providing he will sign, an agreement to 'bear the cost. ROADMAN'S REPORT. The boriofugh roadman (Mr F. Haley) reported as. follows:—We have carted 92-1 yards of metal on to the following streets: Stafford, vogel, ciapham, 'lhoiinpson and. Stout and ■Piiinmer Terrace and Main North Road. We have finished forming and metalling the road in Viogel street, also gleaned Qut drain from Stansell's to water trough by Club Hotel., also drain .through' itthe ihorse paidd,ook. Have collected rubbish and carted same to dump on Levin road. Have cut grass and hedge in No. 1 ploit in Piiinmer Terrace and have also put No. 2 plot down in grass. The grass iias also been cleaned off footpath in Ballance Street.
