RATANA AND JAPAN.
GOVERNMENT URGED TO TAKE DRASTIC STEPS.
A representative meeting qf the Ngati-Raukawa- Tribe was held at 1 Otaki to discuss Ratana's recent statement with reference to having married the Maori people to the Japanese race, and also the statement that tne salvation of the Maori race was m the hands of Japan. The following resolution was passed;—"That this meeting of. the Ngati-Raukawa .Tribe expresses its unalterable loyalty to His. Majesty King George V; that they will always do their duty together with their pakejha brothers to maintain law and order, and if needs be, tight, as we have shown before, the cause jof the British Empire under whose great guidance, rule, and protection, we have been able to live in peace and happiness, and that owning to the disloyal tendencies shown by the Ratana movement, this meeting strongly urge that the Government take drastic steps to deprive all those who are in any way connected with the above movement from all privileges and benefits enjoyed under the British flag, and further that fhey be prevented from participating in any further Parliamentary elections."
