BANK CLERK BREAKS GAOL.
AT LARGE WITH A GUN. TE AWAMUTU, February 9. A bank clerk, Harold Keith Jones, who gained notoriety by forging and uttering - cheques for his honeymoon, and who was sentenced to two years, after serving six weeks in-the Walkeria reformatory, escaped at 9.30 on Sunday morning. He was missed shortly afterwards and search immediately began, which was continued all night, so far without result. It is not known in which direction the escapee went, lint it is believed he is heading towards Arapuni. He carries a Schneider rifle and several rounds, of am. munition which he stole at the time of his escape. He is dress al in dungarees, but is now supposed to be .wearing - a dark suit or dark coat over the dungarees. The escaper is 23 years of age, five feet eight inches high, of thin build and dark complexion, with black hair and of smart appearance. The fact of his carrying - arms is causing some uneasiness.
